Coordinator for West Africa, Building and Woodworkers’ International

zoomOuedraogo Abdou Karim is the Coordinator for West Africa for Building and Woodworkers’ International (BWI), and is based in Burkina Faso. He is currently in charge of trade union development projects for BWI in both Francophone and Anglophone countries. This involves assisting and advising West African building, construction, wood and forestry unions in designing, implementing and evaluating trade union development programs based on the unions’ needs and capacity to handle these programs.

As the Coordinator for West Africa he acts as the BWI Africa and Middle East Regional Representative in sub-Saharan Africa.

Since 2008 BWI has been successfully using forest certification as a tool for organizing forestry workers to obtain better working and living conditions in West Africa and in the Congo Basin region.

BWI has some experience to share and hopes to learn from others participants in the forum.
