Most FSC-certified smallholders have the potential to develop and supply high-end niche products for local, national and international markets. However, most of them still struggle to penetrate these markets. Their limited resources prevent them from meeting the required quality for their products or meeting other supply-chain conditions. What are the requirements of buyers, and how can smallholders overcome the limitations on both sides? In this session, we will try to map the actors and responsibilities required to develop product supply chains for niche markets.
