Director and Founder, African Women’s Network for Community Management of Forests (REFACOF)

zoomCécile NdjebetCécile NdjebetMrs Cécile Ndjebet is the Director of REFACOF, a regional network with a secretariat based in Edéa, Cameroon. She is also the Executive Director of national NGO Cameroon Ecology and National Coordinator of the Cameroon civil society platform on REDD+ and climate change.

Cécile is an agronomist by profession, and she holds an MSc in social forestry. She is also a gender specialist and women’s leadership trainer and adviser, who for the past 18 years has been devoted to women’s rights issues. She is currently very involved in national, regional and international policy processes on forestry, REDD+ and climate change.

Cécile is a member of the Steering Committee of The Forests Dialogue, a Focal Point of the Women Major group of the United Nations Forest Forum, and an observer in the World Bank Forest Carbon Partnership Facility, where she represents the Women of the South group.

In future years, Cécile’s main advocacy work will focus on community tenure rights, especially securing women’s property rights to land and forests. She will also continue to advocate for the creation of dedicated fund for rural women, to help them better play their role in sustainable forest management and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
